Emergency & Critical Care

Advanced Pet Care is Kolkata’s first private 24-hour veterinary emergency and critical care unit for companion animals.

Emergency cases are attended to on priority basis and your pet receives comprehensive medical care supported by round-the-clock in-house access to labs, radiography, ultrasound imaging, cardiac monitoring and medication.

Resuscitation kits and protocols are in place to ensure a rapid response to any cardiac emergency and Oxygen is always available on demand.

Our state-of-the-art intensive care ventilator provides respiratory support for patients who have difficulty breathing or cannot breathe on their own. Blood gas monitoring provides critical insights into the status of the patient’s respiratory functions and patient monitors display the status of the patient’s life signs and alert the doctor to any critical changes.

Surgical Facilities

If our senior veterinarian has recommended surgery as part of your pet’s treatment plan, we have the multi-specialty infrastructure to support both routine and critical cases.

Our operating theatre features agas anesthesia workstation imported from the UK, oxygen delivery and respiratory support and intra-operative vital signs monitoring of temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure as well as electrocardiography, pulse oximetry and capnography.

The unique highlightof our surgical infrastructure is the heated veterinary surgical table whichreduces the risk of hypothermia in the patient during surgery.

All surgeries are performed with autoclave sterilised instruments and the operating theatre is disinfected and sterilised at regular intervals.

In-Patient Care

Sometimes, pet owners just don’t have the time, manpower or infrastructure to take care of an ailing pet at home. Even a course of post-surgery antibiotics involves a daily visit to the veterinary clinic which is stressful and traumatic for both pet and owner.

Patients admitted in our kennels and cattery are monitored by our team of doctors, veterinary technicians and assistants. Pets receive their medication and treatments on time and any significant change in the condition of the patient is immediately communicated to the pet owner and the doctor on call.

The kennels and cattery are housed in separate, centrally cooled rooms and can accommodate up to twenty dogs and puppies and nine cats. Mice, rabbits and guinea pigs will be considered on a case-to-case basis. At present, we have no facilities to house birds and reptiles, exotic or otherwise.
To ensure the well-being of all our patients, we do not accept infectious cases or pets with ticks or fleas in our in-patient facility. Your pet will receive the best possible care in all other respects.

Out-Patient Care

Our team of senior doctors are available for consultations at our OPD Clinic 6 days a week from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Visit the OPD with your pet and consult the veterinarian present. Understand the preliminary diagnosis and the proposed examination and treatment plan. Any investigations prescribed can be performed at our in-house veterinary diagnostic facility.

Once the recommended treatment has been administered, you can leave with your pet. Make sure you understand the veterinarian’s instructions about the medication prescribed and how to care for your pet.

In the event of any complication, your pet can always be moved from daycare or procedures to our emergency, critical care or in-patient facility.

Pet Health Diagnostics

A timely and quality diagnosis is the cornerstone of effective treatment for your pet. Your veterinarian may prescribe tests to diagnose, confirm and monitor health problems. Often, routine examinations are ordered to evaluate your pet’s overall health or monitor the effects of a treatment plan.

Clinical Pathology

The in-house veterinary pathology lab processes blood, urine, stool and other bodily fluid samples for routine and critical testing of blood gases, electrolytes, chemistries and hematology.

To ensure international quality standards, our lab features specialised veterinary analyzers imported from France and UK.

Radiology

Our advanced veterinary-specific X-Ray and image processing technology provides high-quality, detailed images at significantly lower duration and levels of radiation exposure, making it safer for both patient and technician.

Advanced Pet Care follows the current international practice of performing veterinary x-rays under general anesthesia. This is recommended because x-rays are most commonly ordered for orthopaedic and trauma cases and being held down on a hard table can cause your pet a lot of pain.

Ultrasound Imaging

All ultrasonographies are performed by our senior consulting veterinarian using a dedicated veterinary ultrasonic imaging system. This is a painless procedure for your pet.

Cardiac Monitoring

ECGs are the simplest, effective and most affordable form of cardiac monitoring. We use a portable veterinary ECG machine for routine health checks, pre-surgical fitness checks and to diagnose and monitor heart conditions as well as a point-of-care testing device in the emergency and critical care environment.
