Emergency & Critical Care

ICU Ventilator

Newport ICU Ventilator from Medtronic Minimally Invasive Therapies (formerly Covidien) manufactured in and imported from Ireland (UK), suitable for all companion animals including small animals under 1kg.

An ICU Ventilator is a highly sophisticated life-support medical device which provides respiratory support when a patient has difficulty breathing or is unable to breathe on his own. Ventilation allows medical professionals to treat the illness while the patient’s lung functions are monitored and supported by the ventilator. Once the patient’s ailment is treated or his lungs become strong enough to function on its own, ventilation is gradually reduced and withdrawn.

Vital Signs Monitor

Edan dedicated Veterinary Vital Signs Monitor for feline, canine and other companion animals.

Monitors measure and display the status of the body’s life-sustaining functions. Consistent vital signs monitoring is necessary for early detection of clinical deterioration in patients in a critical care environment.

Blood Gas Analyzer

Edan Blood Gas and Chemistry Analysis System point-of-care testing device designed for dedicated veterinary use.

Blood Gas Analyzers measure the amount of Oxygen (O2), Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and acidity of ph in blood as well as concentrations of other parameters such as Lactate, Glucose and Electrolytes.

The Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) test is usually performedto evaluate the status of critically ill patients, assist in ventilator management, confirm diagnoses and monitor the effects of the treatment plan.

Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging

HF X-Ray and CR System

Allengers High Frequency (HF) X-Ray Machine with Veterinary APR Panel and Carestream Computed Radiography (CR) System with Image Suite Veterinary Image Processing software.

An X-Ray is the oldest and most common form of medical imaging. A controlled beam of radiation is directed at the area being examined and an image of the inside of the patient’s body is created. X-Ray images help doctors to view, monitor and diagnose conditions like bone fractures, joint injuries and infections, arterial blockages, abdominal pain and even cancer.

High Frequency (HF) X-Ray machines are preferred over traditional LF machines because it is possible to capture better quality images while reducing both the level of radiation exposure as well as the duration of exposure making it safer for both patient and technician.

Computed Radiography (CR) Systems are used to digitally process the image captured by the X-Ray machine. Digital imaging provides sharp, clear images that support more accurate review and diagnosis. If required, the doctor can view the images on-screen and take advantage of image processing tools to enhance, zoom and focus on the areas of interest.

Ultrasound Imaging System

Edan Veterinary Digital Ultrasonic Diagnostic Imaging System with multi-frequency transducers for feline, canine and other companion animals.

Medical ultrasound is a diagnostic technique which uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of internal body structures like tendons, muscles, joints, blood vessels and internal organs. It may be recommended after a physical examination, blood test or X-Ray indicates an underlying problem including diseases of the liver, kidneys, bladder, stomach, intestines, heart, pancreas and other organs.

Cardiology

Electrocardiograph (ECG Machine)

Edan Veterinary Electrocardiograph.

An Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a recording of the electric activity of the heart as measured by an ECG Machine (Electrocardiograph). An ECG may be prescribed if the patient exhibits symptoms of a heart condition such as chest pain, arrhythmia and shortness of breath or has risk factors for heart disease like hypertension. This test may also be performed as part of routine preventive screening or before a surgery.

Laboratory Services

Hematology Analyzer

Horiba Veterinary Hematology Analyzer manufactured in and imported from France, capable of testing 8/18 parameters of Complete Blood Count (CBC) with 4-part differential for 10 animal species including cat, dog, mouse and rabbit using only 10 µl (0.01 ml) of whole blood.

A Complete Blood Count (CBC) is a test that counts the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets (the cells that constitute blood) present in the sample, provides information about the physical characteristics of the cells and measures certain components of blood like hemoglobin and hematocrit. This test is often included as part of a routine health check-up and helps detect a variety of disorders including infections, anemia, inflammation, bleeding disorders, diseases of the immune system and leukemia.

Biochemistry Analyzer

Randox Semi-Automatic Clinical Chemistry Analyzer manufactured in and imported from Ireland (UK), with an extensive veterinary test menu including routine chemistries, electrolytes, metabolic and cardiac profiles and hepatic and renal function tests as well as advanced built-in Quality Control (QC) mechanisms which ensure accurate test results.

Diagnostic tests are prescribed to assist in making a diagnosis, monitor the progression of a disease or status of a chronic condition and proactively identify potential health problems by screening for common ailments. It involves the laboratory examination of a blood, urine, stool or tissue samples, the results of which are interpreted by the referring doctor to determine the course of medical treatment.

Operation Theater

Gas Anesthesia Workstation

Penlon Prima Anesthesia System with integrated ventilator and Penlon Sigma Delta Vaporizer manufactured in and imported from England (UK), suitable for all companion animals including small animals under 1kg.

General anesthesia is an induced, reversible and controlled loss of consciousness which allows patients to tolerate surgical procedures which would otherwise cause unbearable pain and result in unpleasant memories. Sedation, amnesia (memory loss) and analgesia (pain relief), with or without reversible muscle paralysis, is the end result of anesthesia. Under general anesthesia, a patient’s respiratory and cardiovascular functions are impaired; depending on whether or not muscle paralysis has been induced, a patient may not be capable of breathing on his own.

An anesthesia workstation is a critical and sophisticated medical device which takes over and maintains the patient’s respiratory functions and delivers a carefully calculated mix of Oxygen and the gas anesthetic agent directly into the lungs of the patient through endotracheal intubation or using an anesthetic mask. Once the surgery is complete, the anesthetic agents are discontinued and the patient is gradually weaned off the anesthesia machine.

Vital Signs Monitor

Edan dedicated Veterinary Vital Signs Monitor for feline, canine and other companion animals.

Critical life functions like breathing, heart rate and blood pressure are affected by general anesthesia as well as the surgery being performed. A vital signs monitor measures and displays these parameters allowing the anesthesiologist to diagnose, manage and treat any medical complication that might arise during or immediately after surgery.
